How to remove the Ads from File Manager?

File Manager is a freeware but contains ads which provided by Google Admob. If you do not like the ads, you can purchase File Manager Pro(ad-free version) directly from Google Play at following link:

File Manager Pro has the same functionality as free version but does not contain ads.

File Manager cannot find my external SD card?

File Manager can manage external SD(MicroSD) card. The only problem is that user needs to find out the path to external SD card.

For the 3rd type of devices, there will be an "SD Card" button appear in toolbar if File Manager detects external SD card besides your internal storage. You can click it to navigate to external SD card if mounted.

File Manager cannot support USB storage(OTG)?

File Manager can access USB storage using OTG.

If your device directly support to mount USB storage, you just need to find out the mount point to the USB storage, such as "/storage/usbdisk", etc.

If your device does not support OTG, you may need some additional work. As far as I know, currently only rooted devices can support OTG by installing some USB mount applications, such as "StickMount". Then your USB storage can be mounted to your device, the path may like "/sdcard/usbStorage/xxxx/". You can navigate your File Manager to this path to access your USB storage. You can find more information by Google or from "StickMount" application introduction.

How do I transfer files to SD card of my device?

File Manager can manage external SD card the same as standard folder. The major step is to find out the path to external SD card, please refer to 2nd question in this page.

After you know the path to external SD card, then following steps are straightforward:

  1. You can long click on the file which you want to transfer to SD card, and choose "Copy" menu item to choose it as source file. You can also enable multi-selections mode to select and copy multiple files at the same time.
  2. After choose copy action, there will be a new button in the toolbar named "Paste". Now you can navigate to the path to external SD card (If there is "SD Card" button in toolbar, you can click on it to navigate to SD card directly).
  3. You can choose the desired folder under SD card as the paste target folder. Then you can click "Paste" button from toolbar to start the file transfer. You will see a popup dialog which indicates the transfer progress.

How to set/reset default application for specified file type?

File Manager is using Android built-in mechanism to associate file type and applications.

If you want to set the default application to open specified file type, such as "*.bmp" file, you just need to click "Always" button or check "remember my choice" in application chosen dialog.

If you want to change the default application which is used to open specified file type, you need to go to Android settings->apps, find out the current default application and in the application page, click "clear default" to release current file association.
