Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between free and paid version?
QuickEdit TextEditor Pro has the same features as free version. The only difference is that pro version does not contain ads. Thanks for purchasing pro version to support our development!
-
Do I need to purchase QuickEdit Pro again for other devices?
QuickEdit Pro is a standard paid application in Google Play. Purchase record to QuickEdit Pro is bound to your Google account. That means if you have multiple devices using the same Google account, you just need to buy once and have ad-free versions on all devices.
-
Do I need to keep QuickEdit Free version after I installed Pro version?
No. You can safely uninstall free version and only keep the pro version. They are two independent apps.
-
Why did I still see ads after purchased pro version?
Please launch QuickEdit pro after you purchased, and uninstall free version. They are two independent apps, free version always contains ads and pro version does not.
-
Why wasn't my file listed in file page?
Please turn off file type filter to try again. Maybe your desired file is not treated as text file.
-
Can I save file to SD card?
Please be noticed that on Android 4.4(Kitkat), the external SD card is read-only to third party applications. If you cannot save the modification to external SD card, please save it to internal storage instead.
After Android 5.0(Lollipop), you need to grant QuickEdit write permission to external SD card to make it writable.
-
Why do I have permission error when saving modifications?
The most common reason when you can open but not write the files, is the permission problem. QuickEdit does not have enough permission to save your modification back.
Please use QuickEdit built-in file explorer to open the file and try again.
Many 3rd party apps such as file management apps don't give enough permission to write to files, they only give view permission instead of write permissions.
For instance, when opening your text files, if you choose "open with QuickEdit", it is mainly with only read permission. If you choose "edit with QuickEdit", it is mainly with write permission.
-
Why does my file contain garbled characters in QuickEdit?
The most common reason is that, the encoding QuickEdit detected is wrong, you can manually change the encoding based on your language to have a try.
For instance, manually change encoding to ISO-8859-7 for Greek to have a try.
-
Can I define initial path when creating FTP connection?
You can define the initial path for FTP server in the server field of FTP creation dialog, such as "192.168.4.47/data", it will directly go to the data folder of your FTP server.
-
What is the file size limit that QuickEdit can support?
This depends on many facts, such as your device memory size, Android version, etc.
QuickEdit does not support pagination, it will load the whole file content to memory. So it cannot support very huge files. The app will crash if the file exceeds the limit.
Normally, if you open plain text file without syntax highlighting, it can fluently edit at least 5MB pure text file, or more than 50,000 lines; if you open programming file that supports syntax highlighting, it can support at least 10,000 lines of code.
Normal text files are not that huge, make sure you did not open media/video files by mistake.
-
Does QuickEdit contain code assistant and compiler?
Currently, QuickEdit doesn't support these two features.
You can try our another app Code Editor which has these two features.
