Settings
Introduction
You can manage application preferences from the Settings page, accessible by selecting the Settings menu item in the navigation drawer.
Below are additional settings that haven't been covered in other sections.
Artwork Settings
Following settings are related to artwork images, such as album artwork and artist avatar. Missing artworks can be downloaded automatically from Internet by default.
Show Artwork | Display artwork for album and artist. |
Download Artwork | Download missing artwork from Internet. |
Download only on Wi-Fi | Download artwork only when Wi-Fi is connected to save data. |
Artwork on lock screen | Display album cover on lock screen while playing. |
Playback Settings
Following settings are related to music playback.
Playback Engine | Switch between the new playback engine (ExoPlayer) and the old one (MediaPlayer) |
Gapless playback | Play sequential tracks seamlessly, without gap between, works on Android 4.1+. |
Crossfade | Fade out current song when finished, and fade in next song, works on Android 4.1+. |
Keep shuffle mode | Keep shuffle mode when changing songs in play queue. |
Playback position | Save/restore playback position for long tracks, useful for podcast and audiobook. |
Bluetooth autoplay | Auto start playing when Bluetooth audio device is connected. |
Disable car autoplay | Prevent autoplay when connecting to car by Bluetooth, may not work on some car models. |
Sound balance | Adjust the left and right sound balance for headphones. |
Last.fm scrobbling | Please refer to Last.fm scrobbling section. |
Playback Engine
Pulsar supports both ExoPlayer and MediaPlayer as playback engines.
Keep shuffle mode
You can play songs either in sequence or shuffle mode. When this option is turned off, tapping the shuffle button will start shuffle mode, while tapping a song directly will start sequential playback. When the option is turned on, shuffle mode will stay active even if you tap a specific song, in this case, shuffle mode can only be turned off from the Now Playing page.
Crossfade
Crossfading is a technique that creates a smooth transition from one song to another.
Crossfading
length can be chosen from 500ms to 15000ms.
Crossfade works for local
playback in normal speed only.
Crossfade works when gapless playback is enabled on Android 4.1+.
Audio Focus
Following settings are related to audio focus management.
Reduce volume | Temporarily reduce playback volume on short audio focus change (notification, navigation, etc.). |
